Online dating continues to grow, apart from the ever expanding number of sites to visit, join and use the art of online dating also has a growing number of blogs. Not the spam blogs but blogs that are written to help, explain and keep track of who's doing what and which new sites are worth visiting. So it still amazes me how some elements of the media still think online dating is something new and a last resort for the desperate. Despite perfectly sane, sensible people using the internet to find someone new for love, sex, threesomes or just to find someone fun to chat to, the words "desperate", "sad" and "last resort" have a tendency to appear in articles and on radio programs. Every so often an article will be written by someone who then tries it, mainly for the purpose of writing the article. Usually the articles will then make unsubtle comments about weirdos, strange meetings and disappointments. Rarely do they turn into something positive. For those who use dating sites the results will vary but there's a great deal of fun to be had from them, right from the moment of joining. Virtually every dating site will ask for the same basic two things, a profile and a photo. Writing good profiles can be difficult. Some make little attempt, others write sweeping biographies. The photo has to be chosen wisely, finding the best one, taking one especially and deciding whether to show face and/or body parts. The added extras that dating sites offer are what make them really stand out. Webcams, magazines, chat rooms, groups. All can be used and are excellent fun. Active participation will always increase your chances of success for getting what you want from the site you're using. Whichever site you use and what ever you get out of them, whether you want some fun dating, adult dating or fetish dating doing it online is fun. |
